Dear Prayer Partners,
Praises:
We would like to thank the Lord for all that He has done for us. He has given us salvation full and free, the opportunity to serve Him now, and the privilege to go and reach needy souls in Perú with the Gospel. What a truly great God we serve!
Our travels in the month of June took us to six different states and carried us over 3,700 miles. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to share what God has given us to do. On Sunday, June 3, Sara had the opportunity to lead a lady to the Lord at the invitation time at a church in Pennsylvania. Following the invitation, we saw this lady along with several others follow the Lord in believer’s baptism. How encouraging to see churches with a passion for souls.
News:
Sara is now 7 months along with Baby Josiah, and we are thankful that she and the baby are doing well. We would greatly appreciate your prayers as we draw closer to the time for the baby to be born. Also, please pray that God would help us to be the parents that we need to be to bring up our child in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
One June 23rd, Sara and I celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary. Our wedding cake didn’t fare too badly after a whole year in the freezer. We are so thankful that God has brought us together and that we have the opportunity to serve Him.
Three new churches took us on for support in the month of June. Our support level has risen to 65%. Initially, we had hoped to leave for Perú at the end of this year, but after praying and receiving godly counsel, we have decided to depart in January. It is our desire to get to Perú as soon as possible, but we know that the Lord’s timing is perfect. Please pray for us as we get ready to buy airline tickets, secure our visas, and prepare to get “set up” and moved in down in Perú.
Update on the Field:
The Faith Baptist Church of Arequipa, Perú (where we will be serving during language school), continues to grow. There are now 350-400 people attending on Sunday morning, requiring two separate services to make room. They had 15 Sundays in a row with people baptized. This is a great step for people in Perú, because it is a symbol of them turning their back on their old false beliefs and proclaiming publicly their new-found faith in Christ. The church there is in need of a new building, and they have currently saved $40,000 of the $100,000 needed to begin construction. Please pray that God would meet that need.
Prayer Requests:
-
Please pray for Julio Soncco, a man doing a great work for the Lord in Arequipa. Bro. Julio just found out that he needs a pacemaker because of his irregular heartbeat. Please pray that God will provide the $15,000 needed for that and that Bro. Julio will get back to health quickly.
-
Please pray that God would bless in a special way these last few months of deputation.
-
Please pray for…
-God’s power on our lives
-Souls to be saved
-Laborers to be recruited
-Meetings to be scheduled to fill up the rest of our schedule (especially during November)
We so appreciate and need your prayers and support. We love you in the Lord.
Yours to reach this world in our generation,
Robert and Sara Stover
