We thank the Lord for your continued prayers on our behalf. After a whirlwind year of traveling while on furlough, we have enjoyed being settled here for over a year now. These past 2 months though, we have done some traveling and we thank the Lord for His protection.
Protection and Provision
In March, we drove the 6-hour trip to Arequipa to take care of some medical needs. We came home safely after several days with everything taken care of. Later, we learned that the very road we had taken to get home was closed for 5 days due to a strike. They closed it just a few hours after we passed through!
The road opened again, just in time for me to head back to Arequipa to preach at a Missions Conference at Victory Baptist Church. I had a wonderful time teaching and preaching there. While I was away however, our car broke down. Thank the Lord I had decided to take the bus as opposed to driving this time! It would have been no fun to have been stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. God had already provided the money to get the fairly expensive repairs done, before we even knew that we would need it.
April 17-20, I had another opportunity to travel, this time to Juliaca to preach for my friend David Ramos. We worked with he and his family during the last year and a half of our time in Arequipa. They have since moved to Juliaca and planted a new church. This was a conference celebrating the church’s 2nd anniversary. Pastor Juan Pacheco from Arequipa also came to preach. We had a good attendance each night and saw several people accept Christ as Savior. Many Christians also made decisions to follow Christ more closely.
The day I arrived home from this trip, we received the call letting us know that I finally have an appointment for my residence visa interview. We will travel to Lima to do this in May and to take care of some things at the embassy. Several months back, when my flight was unexpectedly cancelled, we received a voucher for a free flight. This was a blessing to use now, as the majority of the expense for us to get our visas is from travel. Again and again we see God providing for needs, even before they arise!
Prayer Requests:
-For God to bless in our new semester of Bible Institute
-For the church choir that we will be starting this Sunday
-For my visa interview, May 12th
-For our church Family Conference, May 14-18
-For God to bless in the Thursday night Bible studies
-For those we are discipling to be faithful to the Lord and to grow spiritually
Praise!
We thank the Lord for the recent salvation of Oscar. A man from our church, named Luis, used to work with Oscar several years ago. They met in town, and Luis told him about how God had changed his life and how He wanted to change Oscar’s as well. Since then, Oscar has been faithfully attending each church service and last week put his faith in Christ. Praise the Lord for the power of the Gospel! Please be praying that Oscar’s wife and two sons would also come to know Christ as Savior.
Thank you for “holding the ropes” for our family both in prayer and financially.
Serving our Risen Lord,
Robert, Sara, Josiah, Caleb, Joshua, Lydia, and Zachary Stover
