Dear Pastors and Praying Friends,
Thank you for your prayers for the ministry here in Tacna, Peru. I am writing to tell you about a great possibility for our church. Our partners in the ministry, the Jonathan Earnhart family, as well as the people of Calvary Baptist Church have been praying for quite some time now that the Lord would allow us to start a Christian school out of our church. In our current location, there is no room (only 1250 square feet of ground space) for the church to expand because we are landlocked on all sides. Also, with the strict standards that are placed on schools here in Peru, there is no possibility of being allowed to open a Christian school in our current location.
However, the Lord has given us the possibility of purchasing some land in a growing part of town not far from our church, for an incredible price. The future hospital, which would be the best one in our city, would only be a mile or so down the road. We have spoken with the owner of the land, and he is willing to sell us one hectare of land (approximately 2.5 acres) for $80,000. Just to give some perspective, we inquired the price of a piece of land just a stone’s throw away and found that the owner wanted 1 million dollars for the same amount of land! We would be buying the land with the possibility of further negotiating with the owner to buy more land in the future. (He has several more acres available.) This location would be an ideal place for both our church to grow and to be able to start a Christian school in the near future.
The church that we are working in, Calvary Baptist Church, has a desire to do their part in the project. Our church owns its own building and is totally debt free. We are in the process of getting all our papers in order as a church to be able to ask the bank for a loan to make the initial investment. The goal is for the church to be self-supporting. With the purchase of this land, there would be opportunity for the people of our church to work in developing the land agriculturally and in other ways to make it possible for the school to run without outside help. The Lord has blessed us with a group of people who are uniquely equipped to carry out these tasks and would be able to do much of the planning and work themselves.
Please pray that the Lord would supply needs and open doors as only He can. Our home church, the Carrollton Baptist Temple, has already made plans to start a fund to help toward this project. You can also help us:
1) By praying for God’s hand of leading and provision and,
2) By prayerfully contributing to this project that would help spread the Gospel more effectively both here in Tacna, Peru, and around the world.
Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration of this special need. Any gift for the project can be sent to: MWBM, P.O. Box 519, Braselton, GA 30517, marked, “Robert Stover Building Fund.” If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by phone (330-238-4944) or by e-mail (rstover22@yahoo.com).
